How To Log Hiking Mileage

Entering miles into the national website, scouting.org will stick with your child through boy scouts and beyond. It is important to enter these miles in so you can see how much your child has traveled through out the course of their scouting experience. It is also importing because Pack905 provides prizes for certain milestones.

How To Enter Hiking Milage into scouting.org:

  1. Login to https://advancements.scouting.org/roster and Make sure you are currently viewing Pack 905

  2. Click on activity logs on the left

  1. Click on New Activity Log (top right under Pack 905) > Hiking

  2. In the pop-up select “CREATE NEW ACTIVITY”

  3. Enter in all of the information, particularly the date, miles and hiking name.

    1. ***IMPORTANT*** The first word in the hiking information should be either "Pack", "Den", or "Family" to denote what kind of hike it was. For example “Family Hike at Algonkian park”. This is important, because it will make it easier to tally hiking milage at the pack level.

  4. Add person – Select the scout or scouts that went on the hike

  5. Record and finish

    1. NOTE Family hikes will need to be approved

    2. NOTE typically Pack or Den hikes won't have to be entered individually by parents. If you have any doubts about whether the hike will be entered, ask the person leading the hike.
